Pinwheel

Nearly 8 months old and we have entered the restless sleeper stage. He snuggles, nurses, sleeps all cuddly for a bit. Then he half-wakes, flips over, pivots on his shoulder and rolls. His feet stay by my belly, but he goes from parallel to perpendicular in a blink. Then he pinwheels some more and suddenly he is caddywhumpus. His head at the southwest corner, his feet north, the pillow to the east. He is twenty pounds, three ounces. He takes up over half a king-size bed. I scoot him back to snuggle position and he nurses again, sleeps some more. Feet nestled into my belly, head at my chest, round heiney butt sticking out. A tiny primate in a big jungle. A baby again. For awhile.
