Camp Weaver-Powell

He doesn’t know it yet, but Lex had his last day at daycare on Friday. He had a fine time there, but it was hard on his momma to have an extra half hour on the way to and from work.

Starting Monday his dad will walk him over two blocks to Camp Weaver-Powell. Our friend Melissa is staying home with their second daughter, and she will take Lex as well.

I am so excited about it. She will take the kids on outings and adventures. The Children’s Museum, the kiddie pool, Maymont Nature Center, meet me for lunch at the park near my office. Lex will have a regular playmate and get to see other kids on group playdates. He will get to wear his BumGenius cloth diapers during the day, practice feeding himself, bring his favorite toys, have storytime daily, go for stroller rides around the neighborhood, play with their dog.

I love that he will get sunscreened up and go outside as the weather gets nice.

So this weekend we are getting his gear ready. In addition to diapers and bottles he will need:

  • Snacks
  • Change(s) of clothes
  • Blanket and jacket
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • His stash of saline, gas drops, etc.
  • Carseat
  • Baby Einstein photo album with family pictures
  • Soft books and special toys
  • Yo Gabba Gabba episode on DVD
  • Official Camp Weaver-Powell logo onesie (each kid gets one, with their names on their sleeves in the campy hickory-twig font)

We are in the market for a red Radio Flyer wagon to tote him and his stuff back and forth, but there is a big baby gear yardsale coming up in April so we might wait and see if we find anything there first. Plus I think he needs to be closer to a year old to get pulled in a wagon safely.

So tomorrow morning he starts his new adventure. Day camp. I am so proud of my big boy.
