Love Me Tender

It is a grey rainy cold morning and the whole family is snuggled in the king-size bed. Daddy is under the sheets on his side, Momma and baby co-sleeping on top of the covers with their own blanket. Kitteh leaving her usual spot at the foot of the bed to patrol for some petting if it seems like her people are awake.

The baby is seven months now. February was too short, but we celebrated his 7-month birthday on the last day anyway. The most recent developments are that he loves to clap his hands, is starting to wave “bye-bye” and broccoli is no longer his favorite now that he’s tried green beans. Raw or cooked, he eats them up. One in each hand and an interesting mess in the diaper.

In addition to green beans, he loves his parents, looking in the mirror, bathtime, interactive toys, the kitteh, reading books, his blue blanket while he is nursing, and having free rein to crawl everywhere and get into everything.

He likes getting kisses, having his picture taken, the Johny Jump-up, Little Noses Saline and the bulb syringe, and being carried in the Moby sling. He used to like the car-shaped Exersaucer more but now realizes it doesn’t go anywhere. He likes sleeping with his feet up on my stomach and being on my lap on the Boppy. He likes Gerber Crunchies, Yo Gabba Gabba and looking at pictures of other babies.

He still tolerates the car seat, eardrops, baby oatmeal, sitting in the Bumbo and being in the Pack-N-Play, but only for a little while.

He is interested in and frustrated by the sippy cup. He dislikes getting dressed, being bored and having to go to sleep. He still makes a raspberry to let us know, and it still makes us laugh.

We love everything about him. He is the best one and we love him so tenderly. Especially when he is warm and snuggly on Sunday mornings.
