Just under six months and the baby seems to be teething hard. We got home tonight and he was slick with drool. He grabbed my keys and happily chewed the metal ends, cried when I took them away. I checked the mail and he grabbed the envelope and gummed it to a pulp in an instant. While I was fishing paper put of his squirrel cheeks he was working on the ends of my scarf. I gave him a stick of toast and he chewed alot but didn’t swallow so I dislodged a wad of soggy bread from the roof of his mouth and let him try out a sippy cup. The spout squeaked as he gnashed his terrible jaws on it. I swapped it for a teething ring. Crying. Orajel. Bathtime. He chewed the bath toys, squirty starfish and stacking cups alike. He pulled himself up and chewed the side of the tub. Towel him off. Diaper and jammies. He pulverized the blanket. Everything in the house is sticky with teething biscuit crumbs.
I run my finger along his gums and don’t feel any toothy bits poking through yet, but it can’t be long now.
