Breakfast in Bed
Apparently there are several methods of training your child to sleep through the night, alone in another room. Awful-sounding things like “Ferberizing” and “Systematic Awakening.” Methods based on letting them cry so they learn you are not going to come pick them up when they are unhappy. Methods with instructions for muffling the sound from the nursery with blankets taped to the walls, white noise machines, music, earplugs.
We prefer having Lex snuggled in with us. For safety we don’t share a blanket across him. When he is hungry around 5:30 or 6:00 he can nurse without waking completely, without crying, and I can fall back asleep with a warm armful of sweet milk-fed baby. On weekends he might even go for second breakfast in bed and we can all enjoy a cold winter morning properly, from under the covers with our delightful little guy.
