Thanksgiving Part II

So, having a baby makes me want to be a better person. I want to lead by example, model the right sort of behavior and have him grow up with a good moral compass. Also I promised that if Obama won our family would get into the spirit of service.

So tonight I volunteered to serve dinner at the Conrad Center. I don’t know what I expected, some sort of movie-set soup kitchen, maybe, but it was nice. For dinner they had meatloaf with a side of green beans and new potatoes, a roll, and a big brownie for desert. There were two seatings, 5:30 and 6:15. If you wanted seconds you could attend both seatings.

When I got home we fixed spaghetti with a side salad and English muffin garlic bread. For seconds, I finished off my husband’s salad. I fed the baby while I ate, and thought about how thankful I am for everything we have. Not just our stuff, but each other, and a hot meal in our own home. We have a nice little life. We say so all the time, and it is corny but true.

Those brownies looked really good.
