Preparing Lex for the death of our pet:
“Emma has been a good cat to us for a long time, and now she is very old. She had a good life and loved us alot, but soon she will be dead. She will not come back. We will not see her again. We will miss her, and we will be sad.
And that’s ok.”
Lex: She will be dead, like Ellie in UP?
“That’s right. When we talk about being dead it is very polite to say ‘passed away’ ok?”
After she died, telling the neighbors:
“Honey, do you want to tell our friends something?”
Lex: I have sad news. Our kitty passed away and we are sad.
Oh, sweetheart.
