Airplane

As a teenager, my dad bought a plane, fixed it up, taught himself to fly. My father-in-law was already a grandfather before he started taking flying lessons. My son is the grandson of two pilots.

We have been talking with Lex about flying to England. Now he makes the sign for airplane. Pointer, pinky, thumb extended. He makes the sound of takeoff. KHRrrrrrr. Fuselage and two wings sweeping through the sky.

Usually I give him a choice of stories at bedtime. Do you want to hear the one about the bug or the pirate? But the last couple of times he answered KHRrrrrr! and flew his hand through the air.

Ok baby, I’ll tell you about flying across the Atlantic in an airplane. KHRrrrrr.
