Lucky Month 13
Leaving aside the whole subject of international fame and television interviews for the moment, here is a synopsis of Lex’s milestones during his thirteenth month.
We finally had his one-year doctor’s visit and he is 97th percentile for height, 90th for head circumference, 70th for weight. He is 32-1/4 inches tall, long and lean, with a big brain. He is performing at a 15th month level or beyond. The doctor completely agrees he is very advanced.
His dadda took him to this appointment. He was vaccinated against chicken pox. Three shots this time and he was brave as always.
On the weekends he loves helping around the house; sweeping with his child-size broom, stacking coasters in their holder, working in the garden with momma.
He likes playing on his swingset, riding in his wagon, and the waterplay area at Lewis Ginter. Especially when bigger kids play with him.
He is digging in the sandbox and hardly eating any at all. He draws on his chalkboard, but still snacks on the chalk. He has painted once with watercolors. Mostly he likes running around with the paintbrushes.
He backs up and sits on my lap in a really cute way, usually bringing a book for me to read. Goodnight Gorilla is the current favorite. I do the signs for elephant with a long nose and giraffe with a long neck, but he doesn’t do them yet. Last night he signed Kitty for the first time.
He is really interested in giraffes. We went to the zoo a couple weeks ago and fed the giraffes special zoo food pellets. He let the long black tongue scoop food from his hand and was not afraid. He also ate a few pellets himself. Since then he visited our friends and found a stuffed giraffe toy and a giraffe statue on their porch and put them together. And in the absence of zoo pellets he has been eating the kitty food every chance he gets.
