Flight 1281

I love JetBlue. Checking in our bags I asked the agent if we were sitting together. We were not, but he moved us to a bulkhead row, seats 1a and b. We took off the baby’s shoes going through security. They tested his bottle of breastmilk with the little paper strip they hold over the open container, then add chemicals to the strip to see if it changes. At the gate we were standing front and center, ready for pre-boarding.

The passengers from the previous flight were disembarking. The copilot for this trip was waiting to board as well, and started admiring the baby. When the gate agent arrived we were the first to pre-board and walked down the jetway with the copilot. He asked if we had a camera handy and wanted to get a picture of the baby in the cockpit. “Just go down here and make a left. You can sit in my seat.”

Dada put our luggage in the overhead bins while Lex charmed the pilot into taking our picture. Then I got a pic of the pilot with the baby. Both his grandfathers are pilots and he looked like a natural in the cockpit.

Back in our seats the flight attendants fussed appropriately over our boy, bringing him animal crackers and playing peekaboo. He also worked his charm on the lady in the seat behind, handing her his damp teething rattle back and forth for probably a little longer than necessary. He played with the screens of DirecTV for a bit and loved looking out the window.

By the end of the flight it was past his naptime.I could feel the pressure changing as we lost altitude. I nursed him and he sacked out.

He stayed fast asleep through the landing, as we waved goodbye to the crew and met up with Jaja in baggage claim. He was still drooling on my shoulder as I stopped by the ladies room and while we retrieved our luggage from the carousel. He finally woke up for the ride to Boynton Beach. A little discombobulated, but a good sport. Such a good traveler.
